Fine Linen Placemats made in Lake Como.  Hydrangeas grow in abundance all around the lake.  The pink petal colors range from soft pink to raspberry to coral.  The leaves and stem are deep green.  These large blooms are framed in with a hemstitch border.

Placemats are known as "Sotto Piatti" (under the plates) or simply "Americani" in Italy.  Italian hosts & hostesses tend to use tablecloths, thus the name "Americani".  These are wonderful when a full tablecloth doesn't fit your entertaining mood.  The hydrangea blooms are applied to high quality Italian linen using a special printing process.  Likewise, the sewing is done by a master "sarta" (tailor) right here in Lake Como.
