Lake Como Toile Linen Placemats with Hemstitch Border
Description
Fine Italian Linen Placemats made in Lake Como. In this modern Toile pattern you'll find typical scenes or vignettes found around the lake; Fireworks, Riva boats, swans and sea planes. The Lake Como Toile pattern is printed on an off white ground with a range of colors but the beautiful greens and blues pop more, just like the lake itself. These generously sized, artisanal placemats are framed in with a hemstitch border.
Placemats are known as "Sotto Piatti" (under the plates) or simply "Americani" in Italy. Italian hosts & hostesses tend to use tablecloths, thus the name "Americani". These are wonderful when a full tablecloth doesn't fit your entertaining mood. The pattern is applied to high quality Italian linen locally using a special printing process. Likewise, the sewing is done by a master "sarta" (tailor) right here in the Lake Como area.
